If your garden bed receives at least ½ a day of full sun or more and you have average well-drained soil these border plants are suitable for your garden situation.

BoxOz® Lonicera

Botanical Name: Lonicera nitida
Height x width: Up to 1.2 metres, or trimmed lower
Planting distance for border: 5 per metre for dense bushy hedge or border
Conditions: Full sun to part shade in well drained soils, trim regularly to promote bushy growth and maintain formal shape
Features: Small attractive deep green leaves, fast growing
Landscape use: Hedges, borders and topiary.

Boxwood™ Lonicera

Botanical Name: Select form of Lonicera nitida
Height x width: Up to 2m, but usually kept between ½ to 1m
Planting distance for border: 4 per metre for dense bushy hedge or border.
Conditions: Full sun to part shade in well drained soil, trim regularly to promote bushy growth and maintain formal shape
Features: Rich glossy green small foliage all year, very fast growing, can be trimmed into bushy topiary shapes
Landscape use: Hedges, topiary, border pathways, driveways or living division for garden areas, pots.

Box Leaved Privet

Botanical Name: Ligustrum undulatum
Height x width: Up to 1.2 metres, or trimmed lower, can grow a 2-3 foot hedge in 12 months
Planting distance for border: 4 per metre for dense bushy hedge or border
Conditions: Will grow in very poor or heavy soils, full sun to part shade, trim regularly to promote bushy growth and maintain formal shape
Features: Rich green lush foliage, which will give a traditional style finish but grow very quickly
Landscape use: Low borders and medium hedges, excellent for formal landscapes or edging and topiary

Bloom ‘in Box™ Cuphea ‘pink’

Botanical Name: Cuphea hyssopifolia ‘select form’
Height x width: 40cm x40cm
Planting distance for border: 4 or 5 per metre
Conditions: Sun to part shade in moist well-drained soils keep free from heavy frosts and swampy soils.
Features: Rich glossy box like foliage, which is covered with tiny bright fuchsia picnic flowers for most of the year
Landscape use: Loves to be trimmed and shaped, borders, topiary balls or cones, pots or mass planted as a sculptured shrubby groundcover around trees and shrubs

Conditions: Sun to part shade in moist, well-drained soil, but will tolerate a wide range of soils and conditions, clip to maintain formal shape
Features: An evergreen dwarf shrub with glossy green oval foliage and a dense growth habit
Landscape use: Edges and borders, topiary, pots and general garden plantings, widely used in formal gardens

Japanese Box

Botanical Name: Buxus microphylla var koreana
Height x width: Up to 1m, or cut back to desired height
Planting distance for border: 25cm
Conditions: Sun to part shade in well-drained soils.
Features: Glossy fine oval-shaped green leaves
Landscape use: Low border, formal border, mazes, topiary

Botanical Name: Euonymus fortunei, Euonymus japonicas microphyllus

Conditions: Very hardy, will thrive in most soils but prefers full sun to part shade in well drained soils

Conditions: Likes hot sun to part shade and will tolerate the poorest soils, is beneficial to cut back from time to time
