Chris & Maries have water tanks, trailers & pumps for hire or sale in our stores. Customers can now pick up water 7 days a week & water their gardens!!
The H2ope™ vision is to create a network of gardening contractors and nurseries that are distributing water so that Melbourne gardeners can plant and enjoy thier gardens with confidence.
When we started the H2ope™ project we asked Mr Thwaites for assistance to tap into Melbournes enormous amounts of recyclable and recycled water. Unfortunately we haven't had any interest from Mr Thwaites or the government so we have just got in and have got a small flow of dam water going. We will work to expand the flow and encourage the government to support and assist us to expand the H2ope™ project so that it can become an effective network that can help all gardeners.

When stage three water restrictions were announced the executives of Hello Hello P/L held a meeting to discuss how to survive in the new environment.
The result of this discussion was that we needed to provide a total solution to our gardening public and this would involve our entire industry as the whole greenlife/garden industry is under threat.

The h2ope™ concept
The h2ope™ concept was born and its purpose is to create a bright viable future for gardens, gardeners and the gardening industry.
Melbourne gardeners and nurseries face their greatest crisis in the hot dry months of Jan/ Feb. The public are not used to operating under the new water restrictions and from surveying the gardening public they believe that they may not be able to water their gardens at all within a matter of weeks.

We wish to have the nursery industry distributing recycled water by tankers and by having people drop into nurseries to pick it up at a nominal cost.

Keep peoples gardens going
By providing this water it will keep peoples gardens going and assist the garden industry with a way to remain viable.

Hello Hello P/L will make the h2ope™  logo available to all nurseries that wish to participate.
We will research and provide gardeners with information on how to plant their garden by using dry loving plants, planning and selection, water conservation, using roof water & gardening techniques to conserve water usage.

With this idea it is envisaged that we will look for sponsorship and convert an existing house into a water conservation house and garden of the future that is not reliant on mains water for outdoor use, this could be made into a documentary.
Chris Lucas the founder of Hello Hello P/L conducted casual interviews on hundreds of people over the last few weeks and he notes that ‘people are shelving plans for any further planting or gardening as they believe that soon they wont be able to water their garden at all. Most people believe that the government has done nothing to help with the problem and it will be years before a solution is delivered and as such they feel the situation is hopeless. When I tell them about our h2ope™ concept they get really excited, it seems to appeal to the real Aussie spirit’.

Although things may look really grim for the nursery industry there is an enormous pent up demand where Melbourne’s gardeners want to fill up their gardens with modern style and drought hardy plants. As drought conditions ease and the weather cools there will be a huge demand for plants. It is likely that the water restrictions will ease long after the drought breaks, therefore a program like h2ope will be needed to support Melbourne’s planting efforts after the drought.

H2ope™ is a solution that will get people through the immediate crisis
Hello Hello P/L has purchased a 37,000 litre tanker to cart recycled water and has 60,000 litres of storage at each nursery.
Hello Hello P/L has registered the trademark ‘h2ope’ and will make this trademark available to the entire garden industry so that our industry can keep people gardening and save Melbourne’s gardens.
We’ve commenced building a fleet of trailer tankers that people can hook onto their cars to cart water home.

Distributing gardening water in tankers s not a long tern solution to Melbourne’s gardening needs, what will be required is gardeners installing rainwater tanks, exploring grey water options and the planting of dry loving plants, but this will take time even now there is a 2 month wait on water tanks. H2ope™ is a solution that will get people through the immediate crisis and give people planting confidence in the period between when the drought breaks and the restrictions ease.
